Who agrees with Rep Joe Wilson’s show of Descent?

September 28th, 2009 John Landon 37 Responses

Who Agrees and Why? I don’t want to know who disagrees, there is enough of that being talked about in the media. I want to know who thinks this was a proud moment of restrained descent by the Right and why.

If you have read the history of our early congresses you would know that we are living in civil times. The early congress was extremely volatile with fist fights, whippings, call-outs (duel challenges) and other nasty exchanges. So calling someone a liar outloud is trivial. No one threw a pair of shoes or stood up, turned out the lights and left. Perhaps as I’ve heard suggested the president should have turned from his teleprompter script and engaged the descenter in debate? That would have been interesting would it have been?
Am I wrong that dissent means disagreement?
quote from poster: "giving a speech"
me: I thought Barry was reading a speech. Giving a speech requires the preparation of memorization of prepared material or a sharp mind that can deliver an impromptude speech.
Thank you Ghost of Tom Joad. Yes, I did mean Dissent.
I have read the bill. Much of it is open to interpretation and as one pol said you need a bunch of lawyers to intepret it.
It needs to be written in clear precise language and its not.

THAT WAS EPIC!

Obama wanted to call out those who misrepresent health care and HE GOT CALLED OUT….LMFAO!

Dissent? I think he was right, but he picked an inappropriate time to do it

Disagree. I have read the bill and it explicitly states that illegals will not be covered under the plan. So not only did Wilson break decorum, he was wrong.

    What?!
    Ever hear of righteous indignation?
Joe Wilson is the ONLY one with guts to call out this socialist President!
To hell with decorum and political correctness, this country is at the crossroads and we need righteous people with passion!

    I applaud Rep Joe Wilson!

Basically, Wilson said "The Emperor has not clothes".

Democrats have bought into the Obama B.S. hook line and sinker and to judge by reading some of the answers here on YA, are maintaining the same old tired cry of "Racist!" in dealing with the incident.

Hell, according to Hillary, he was only being Patriotic.

No I don’t agree. What he did was uncalled for.

It was freedom of speech but it was rude, especially to an athority figure

Not to mention he made your party look really bad.

Joe Wilson has an avenue for his decent. It’s called his vote. I would have been equally appalled if someone did it to Bush as much as I despised him. Like they say in the military, you salute the rank, not the man.

    I do.

The lie was during a "no illegals covered" statement. But the dems have repeatedly shot down Republican language that would specifically keep illegals from getting govt health care. Thus, a lie.

Wait, he was showing video games?

    Did you mean dissent?

Anyway, he made an ass out of himself, first off by being disrespectful. And second of all, he was wrong anyway.

And yes, tempers did flair in the past, but that doesn’t mean it was right back then either. Slavery was also ok in the past as well, I don’t think you can say something is right just because it happened before.

I was not happy to see him do what he did where he did it, but I can understand why he did. How many times can you sit there and listen to half truths, not be invited to close door sessions, be ignored, etc and not stand up and say enough? Go for it Mr Wilson, I applaud your integrity and conscience to your public.

You mean dissent? What’s to agree with? He was wrong. He was disrespectful and he made his party look bad. Many Republicans chastized his actions. No one has ever been so disrespectful to the President. He just opened himself and his party up to charges of extremism and racism.

You can’t really compare Congress now to Congress in the 18th century and use it to justify what happened. There are NOT fist-fights in Congress anymore, and we need to maintain a proper level of decorum to be taken seriously,

First off, he is absolutely, completely, and totally NOT correct. Read the dam thing would you all? Please? Second, are we in flippen Jr. High here or what? These are our leaders, not some bully kids trying to pick a fight after school. Who cares what the early Congress did for crying out loud? I, for one, would hope that we have grown enough as a nation not to need "call-outs" or whippings. For Heavens sake! Obama acted in a way fitting for the Pres. of the US, Joe Wilson, on the other hand, acted like an @ss.

i agree with you that joe wilson showed the "restrained descent by the right", yes i do. He certainly showed the world the "descent" the right is experiencing. You go, joe!

but if you are talking about "dissent", then, no, i would have to disagree. While this may seem like i’m talking out of both sides of my mouth, i’m really not and for proof, i would ask you to look up both "descent" and "dissent" in the dictionary.

Yes, back in the good ol’ days, you could call a liar out and offer to duel it out with him. Most liars would fold under that kind of mortal combat.

It was perfect timing. How can you just sit there and say nothing while he is out right lieing to your face. I’m sure the many people feel the same way, and if he is wrong. The people in his state will just vote him out. But I think as we are more civilize here in the U.S. You should see other counties such as Asia and Europe, they scream and shout out all the time, and it’s normal.

I agree with that hero! Rep Joe Wilson’s is an American patriot. It’s high time someone called that fraud a lair to his face. I’m donating to his campaign and I’m not in his district.

There is a person who disgraced the congress. That was Obama, lying to congress is still a felony, isn’t it? If Obama didn’t lie, let him show the part on the "health care" plan, that will neither provide care, nor increase health.

Sorry if you only want people who agree with you, but I don’t agree with you. Joe Wilson was wrong in his facts, and he was rude and disrespectful. Obviously the man cannot control his emotions, and as such, shouldn’t be holding a position in our government. There’s a time and place to voice an opinion, even if it’s an opposing one, and certainly last night was not that time. All Joe Wilson managed to do was show his ignorance and lack of self control. No intelligent politiician would behave that way.

  34. Really tired of stupid people.

I stood up in my living room and cheered when he belted out "You LIe!" I was proud, I began to believe in our elected officials for a moment. Then he said he was sorry. He should not have. He should not have left it at "You LIe" he should have fired back. He should have stood up and Forced Obama to answer the questions. He should have done what Pelosi and Obama and Reed, and Frank told their people to do during the bush administration. He Should have "Gotten in Obama’s face" Obama loves telling his followers to get in our face about the issues, but when it is in his face he demands an appology. Wilson should have brought that speech to a hault. Re election be damned stand up for what you know is true. Stand up and shout down the president, Deman the president tell me the truth, He has clearly not read the bill. Demand the president admit that.

Early Congress? Guess what else was different; the black guy talking during it probably would have been hung to death. Ya, those days had it all figured out……

This guy’s actions have convinced people in HIS district to donate 200K to his opponent in 2010. That is the same guy who only lost last election by 8 points. This clown should be scared.

    Also, learn to spell.
